API: SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA

 

San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, is a diverse, cosmopolitan city surrounded by mountains. San Jose is the capital and largest city of Costa Rica and the focal point of political and economic activity, and the major transportation hub of this Central American nation.

API offers programs in the summer and semesters in San Jose, Costa Rica. Students can study business, arts/design, biology, history, sustainability, Spanish and more at Veritas University.

During the program, students have the opportunity to broaden their classroom education through several organized excursions, which are included in the price of the program. API also organizes social and cultural activities.

Academic Information

API has multiple tracks during the semester and summer. Each track has unique SPN language requirement. Summer options include 1, 2, and full summer options. Semester programs include optional internship for credit.

Faculty

Students can choose any program with API Costa Rica, so long as you remain fully enrolled for the term (minimum 12 credits for the semester, 6 for the summer). Specify your program in your UT application with the program page link and term dates. See specific program page for course options, cost, dates.

Housing

Students in San Jose live with local host families. Host families serve as a unique introduction into Costa Rican culture. Students may be housed with other API or international students, and in all cases will have an individual room. Students are provided with two meals per day, as well as laundry service once per week.

Program Cost

Students will pay $75 application fee, $19/wk overseas insurance, and a $600 affiliated studies registration fee to UT Austin. Students pay an application and program fee (tuition, housing) to API. See provider website for more details. Federal financial aid and scholarships apply for full-time summer (6 credits)/semester (12) enrollment.
