MAY TERM ABROAD: LATINX IDENTITIES ACROSS THE AMERICAS

This interdisciplinary course based in Puebla, Mexico introduces students to emergent research on Latinx identity in K12 and higher education, focused on the topic of masculinity as it is theorized and practiced in the US and Mexico. Students will be hosted by the Universidad de las Americas Puebla (UDLAP) and will have the opportunity to engage with UDLAP students and faculty and participate in service-learning projects with local organizations. We have a number of planned excursions to Cholula, CDMX, and Oaxaca City and visit indigenous ruins like Teotihuacan and Monte Alban. Great for students seeking: coursework surrounding issues of gender and masculinity, Mexican and Mexican American history and immigration, anthropology, history, sociology and cultural arts.
