MAYMESTER:ENGINEERING, ENERGY AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Offshore oil and gas development has had an incredible history on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and Norway is a leader in alternative energy development as well. This course provides a unique opportunity to study energy and global culture in the midst of the stunning natural beauty of the Norwegian fjords and mountains. The course explores the energy and environmental policies that have shaped Norway's development as one of the wealthiest nations as a result of its large oil and gas resources. The program includes field trips to Stavanger, which is considered the Houston of Europe, and cultural activities in Oslo. Field trips will enable students to better understand the scale, function and operational aspects of the latest oil and gas technology. Students will visit several sites during the course to see equipment and training facilities: e.g., Baker Hughes GE, National Oilwelll Varco (NOV) and Halliburton. The program is hosted by the University of Agder in Grimstad.
