MAYMESTER: ENGINEERING COMMUNICATION IN BRISBANE, AUSTRALIA

The vast landscapes and great cities of Australia offer Texas students both reassurance and challenge. This Study Abroad version of Engineering Communication will explore both, with potentially an optional industry immersion program after the course concludes. Australia and the US share a common language, similar cultures, industries, and a history of political and economic cooperation. For Texans in particular, Australia's climate, settler history, and environmental concerns will seem familiar. Yet Australia's approaches to many engineering concerns - disaster response, flood and fire control, and public transportation-differ from those in the US. This course will investigate these differences and also introduce students to the cultures of Indigenous Australians, the oldest living cultures on earth.
