Academic Information

Students must enroll in the equivalent of 12 UT hours of coursework per semester while at National Taiwan University. Please check My Credit Abroad database for courses that have been previously evaluated. If courses are not listed, please work with your Program Coordinator to get courses pre-approved.

Faculty

Students take regular university courses with students from the host country. There is no prior language requirement as a wide selection of courses is taught in English. Students may take Chinese language courses for levels ranging from absolute beginner to fluent conversationalist.

Housing

Students can apply to stay in a dormitory, however students accommodations are NOT guaranteed due to the limited number of dormitory rooms. NTU provides some resources for your off-campus accommodation search. Rent in Taipei typically costs less than Austin. Apartments with kitchens are not common in Taipei.

Program Cost

Students pay a $75 non-refundable application fee and regular UT tuition, and are responsible for airfare, passport/visa, housing, food, local transportation, and other costs of living. Students are required to purchase international health insurance. Financial aid and scholarships may be used.

Academic Information

Students may enroll in one or more terms (9-12 weeks) at ICLP or CLD. Student must know at time of application if they would like to participate for one or two terms, will not be able to extend while abroad. Dates of attendance will depend on which program and term the students elect to enroll in.

Faculty

BEST Program: NTU offers two intensive Chinese language programs on its main campus; the International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) and the Chinese Language Division (CLD). NTU Plus academy offers two programs Chinese Language (BEST) and Language and Research and Culture (non BEST).

Program Cost

Students can be awarded a monthly scholarship of NT $28,000 (approx. US $930). They pay $75 UT app fee, $19/wk overseas insurance, and $600 affiliated studies reg fee to UT Austin. Students pay a program fee (tuition) to NTU's language school.
