Welcome to the sustainable fashion capital of the world! This course provides an introductory overview of sustainability within the fashion industry, addressing topics from slow and fast fashion, innovative materials, new design processes, and textile developments. Students will live in Copenhagen, Denmark as they investigate sustainability from multiple perspectives immersing themselves into the Scandinavian culture. The schedule will include visits to designer showrooms, participation in hands on workshops, and discussions with industry and academic experts. This course is open to all students across campus to create an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment inclusive of all backgrounds and degrees of study.

Academic Information
Students will enroll in a 3-credit hour course, TXA 365, where they will learn about sustainable fashion in Denmark and beyond with hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. In the spring semester, all students enroll in NSC 119 to prepare.
Faculty
Dr Jessica Ciarla is an Associate Professor in the Division of Textiles and Apparel and a fashion designer and entrepreneur who has worked in the private sector. She enjoys mentoring students from diverse disciplines and continues to develop partnerships for collaborative learning experiences.
