MAY TERM ABROAD: ANCIENT GREECE IN SITU

*Page being updated for 2026* Ancient Greece in Situ offers students an unparalleled opportunity to experience the ancient sites, monuments, and culture of Greece first-hand and to work in cooperative learning projects, sharing their knowledge in on-site oral presentations and seminar-style discussions. Students will receive insightful, comprehensive overviews of Greek art, architecture, and archaeology that will illuminate Greece's rich history from the Bronze Age to the Classical period. Time will be spent on the island of Crete exploring the Minoan palatial and town sites from the Bronze Age; in the Argolid region of the Peloponnese that witnessed the rise of the Mycenaean civilizations; at the major panhellenic sanctuaries of Olympia, Delphi, Isthmia, and Nemea that developed during the Archaic period; and in Athens studying the monuments of the Classical era and the development of its democratic institutions.
