MAY TERM ABROAD: INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DESIGN & GRAPHICS

Valencia is Spain's third largest city and well connected by plane, train and bus to all over Europe and the world. It has been ranked as the best city for expatriates in 2022. The high quality of life, manageable cost of living and connectivity makes the city an exciting place to live. Students enjoy walking along its avenues and pedestrian historic center. ME 302 is a multi-faceted course covering topics the history of design, design for manufacture, manufacturing processes, and production techniques. Sketching plays an important part in preliminary design. SolidWorks and SolidWorks tutorials prepare the student to create their own product. Students will design a product from concept to manufactured product over the course of the semester. The project will involve sketching and modeling techniques, mass properties reporting, finite element analysis, rapid prototyping, and dies and injection molding.
