MAY TERM: RESILIENT DESIGN IN ASIA: CLIMATE ADAPTATION STRATEGIES IN JAPAN AND SOUTH KOREA

*Being updated for 2026* Maymester Asia is a proposed three-week experience in two Asian countries. For the first term, the program will involve study in Japan (two weeks) and South Korea (one week). These countries are highly vulnerable to climate change impacts like rising sea levels, extreme weather, and heat waves. Their resiliency is evident in the innovative architectural and urban design strategies that they have adopted to mitigate and adapt to these challenges. The design programs in the School of Architecture would benefit greatly from this experiential learning opportunity, which is in keeping with the goals of the University and the School's Strategic Plan Initiatives. The program will take place during the official May sub-term dates and provide a four-credit offering, including the one-credit Spring International Learning Seminar. There is no language requirement for participation.
