- Geneva, Switzerland
*Page being updated for 2026* This course will offer an overview of modern particle physics paying particular emphasis to research being conducted at CERN and nearby facilities (Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane, Paul Scherrer Institut, Jungfraujoch Cosmic Ray Observatory, Institut Laue-Langevin). Lectures will emphasize modern particle detection techniques and current research efforts in the field. The course is envisioned for physics majors though it is open to other disciplines with sufficient preparation and approval of the instructor. Modern physics (PHY 355) is a suggested prerequisite.
