Palermo, the capital of Sicily and one of the great historic cities of
the Mediterranean, offers a vibrant multicultural setting shaped by
centuries of Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman, and Spanish influence.
Designated as the Italian Capital of Culture in 2018, the city is
renowned for its unique blend of architectural styles, bustling
markets, and a rich artistic and engineering heritage.
Students take a Structural Analysis course with a UT professor,
including program activities that highlight ancient and modern
structures, local traditions, and the island's stunning natural
landscapes - from historic coastal villages to the rugged mountains
surrounding the city. This program offers an immersive, hands-on
opportunity to engage with the rich architectural and engineering
heritage of Sicily.

Academic Information
CE 329 will be taught in English by Prof. Salamone. Classes will be held at the University of Palermo from M-Th. Guest speakers, research lab visits and excursions to ancient structures will be part of the course.
Faculty
Prof. Salamone is looking forward to sharing the Italian way of life & engineering legacy. Research interests include structural health evaluation, earthquake resilience, smart structures ultrasonic sensing, etc.

Program Cost
2026 Program Fee $7950. Program fee includes housing, airport pick up, onsite activities and excursions. Excludes summer tuition ($500 for in-state, $2,000 for out-of-state), international airfare, overseas insurance and personal expenses.
