AL AKHAWAYN UNIVERSITY

 

Inaugurated in 1995 by the late King Hassan II of Morocco and the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane redines the classic American liberal arts educational experience on an architecturally stunning modern campus amidst the glory of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains.

AUI was designed to be innovative in instruction, through the use of the latest technology and learning resources. It is known for its international scope, purpose, and influence. At present roughly 30% of the university population is international.

The university boasts a comfortable, safe, and exciting residential student life on campus featuring hundres of student-run activities, with over 96 percent of undergraduates living on campus with roommmates from around Morocco and the world.

Academic Information

AUI follows a North American curriculum with classes taught in English. Students take 15 credits (5 classes) during the semester. Language courses in Arabic and French are offered each semester. Summer exchange for regular courses. Option in summer for Arabic & N. Afr Studies program for additional fee.

Housing

Exchange students are required to live in university housing. There ar 16 dormitories located on campus that are equipped to house 1000 students. Most students will live in shared rooms. The rooms are well-furnished, spacious and in walking distance of all university facilities.

Program Cost

Students on semester programs will pay additional infrastructure fees to Al Akhawayn upon arrival, no more than a few hundred dollars plus the cost of housing and food. Housing deposit and meal plan must be paid in advance of semester.
