EUROPA-UNIVERSITAET VIADRINA FRANKFURT ODER

 

The European University Viadrina is located at the Germany-Poland border, and offers UT students a unique context to take a variety of courses from faculties of Law, Business Administration, Economics and Cultural Sciences alongside German and Polish students. Semester courses are taught in English, German, and other languages.

This program also features one of the few summer exchanges, which focuses on international relations, government, cultural studies, business, and foreign language.

Academic Information

Semester: 12-15 hours. Academic culture is independent. Your grade is usually dependent on one final exam, paper, or presentation. Summer: choose 6-9 hours from a three courses (in English), with an optional research internship with local professors. Research interest email Michael Mosser: mosserm@austin.utexas.edu

***Note: Lecture period ends in July (Spring term) or February (Fall term) and students usually can arrange to end by that time. Students starting Fall typically go for a full year.*** Students can take courses in English. Otherwise, they can take courses taught in German if they are at high-intermediate (B2) level of German.

Housing

Summer Housing: Students generally live in apartment-style dorm housing, and can live either on the German or Polish side of the border (Poland is 10' from Viadrina). Semester housing: Students live in apartment-style dorm housing on the German side. One scholarship per semester is available for a UT student to subsidize room & board.

Program Cost

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee and regular UT tuition. Fees are paid to EU Viadrina directly. Students are responsible for airfare, passport, housing, food, local transportation, & costs of living. Scholarships available from DAAD - DUE JAN. 31! (see link below under Additional Resources.)
