Iwate University provides UT students with a rich learning environment in Morioka. This city is found within the Iwate Prefecture located on Honshu Island in northern Japan. Morioka is home to various temples, museums, and festivals, and is known for its local cuisine.

Iwate University offers Japanese language courses at various levels, as well as a variety of content courses geared to foreign students, which are taught in English.

Spring 2019 dates are tentative and subject to change. Students who wish to study for one semester can only do so in the spring. This program has limited capacity.

Academic Information

Students must enroll in the equivalent of 12 UT hours of coursework per semester while at Iwate University. Please check the My Credit Abroad database for courses that have been previously evaluated. If your courses are not listed, please work with your Program Coordinator to get courses pre-approved.

Housing

Students may choose to live in dormitory-style housing, apartment- style housing, or find housing independently. The different housing options vary in distance from campus.

Program Cost

Students pay a $75 non-refundable application fee and regular UT tuition, and are responsible for airfare, passport/visa, housing, food, local transportation, and other costs of living. Students are required to purchase international health insurance. Financial aid and scholarships may be used.
