UT Austin students have the opportunity to study at Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand. Founded in 1934, Thammasat University is the second oldest university in Thailand and has become one of Thailand's leading institutions of higher learning with over 22,000 students. The city of Bangkok is endowed with a long history of cultural heritage, economic dynamism and social diversity amid an aura of the modern development. Thailand draws more visitors than any other Southeast Asian country and has festivals linked to Buddhist or Brahman rituals following a lunar calendar.

Academic Information

Open to all students; however, UT Austin students must enroll in at least 3 classes taught by the Faculty of Economics at Thammasat and one Economics class. Outside this, students may also enroll in any classes offered by other departments.

University housing is not available. Students must arrange their own accommodations; however, a list of recommended housing resources is available on the International Office. Program Cost

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee and regular UT tuition for semester abroad. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/visa, food, local transportation, and general costs of living. Financial aid scholarships may be used.

Program Cost

Students pay a $75 application fee, $500 Exchange Admin fee, and regular UT tuition for their semester exchange. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, housing, transportation, and costs of living. Participants pay required emergency health insurance coverage at $19 per week. Financial aid and scholarships can be used.
