PRAGUE UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS

 

Founded in 1953, VSE is the leading university in the field of management and economics in the Czech Republic with over 15,000 students. Prague, the capital and the Czech Republic's largest city, is located on the Vltava River in central Bohemia and is home to more than 1.2 million people. A European cultural capital, Prague is home to excellent art galleries, concert halls, music and film festivals, and architecture.

Students take regular university courses with students from the host country. There is no prior language requirement, as a wide selection of courses is taught in English. Participants earn regular UT in-residence credit. All grades earned for the courses undertaken are computed into the official UT-Austin GPA.

Business and Central and East European Studies courses are available in English. Class offerings vary each semester. Not all classes are worth 3 credits at UT. Classes fulfill core, business, and non-business elective requirements. Fall exchange students complete their exams in December.

Housing

University housing is available for less than $150/month. Students may apply for university housing at the time they apply for admission as an exchange/study abroad student. Dorms are located 20 minutes from campus via the direct tram. Exchange students may also choose to live in private apartment style housing.

Program Cost

Students pay a $75 application fee, $500 Exchange Admin fee, and regular UT tuition for their semester exchange. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, housing, transportation, and costs of living. Participants pay required emergency health insurance coverage at $19 per week. Financial aid and scholarships can be used.

Academic Information

Class offerings vary each semester. Not all classes are worth 3 credits at UT. Students take 24 ECTS/12 US credits of undergrad or grad-level courses. Grad courses require foundational knowledge in GOV, IRG or related academic fields to succeed. Fall exchange students complete their exams in December; Spring in May.

Faculty

General Exchange Students can choose from courses in the Faculty of International Relations, Informatics and Statistics, or Economics. Academic culture is very independent. The majority of your grade is usually dependent on one final exam, paper, or presentation. Final exams may take place in the last week of instruction.
