UNIVERSITY OF HAIFA

 

The University of Haifa is located in the northern Israeli city of Haifa, which is considered to be the cultural hub of northern Israel with many museums, an active theater community and the New Haifa Symphony Orchestra. The university enrolls more than 17,000 students pursuing studies in the social sciences, humanities, law and education. UT students enroll in the International School, which offers courses taught in English and intensive Hebrew language studies. Students proficient in Hebrew may also take regular university courses with local Israeli students.

Academic Information

Wide variety of courses in English available, as well as intensive Hebrew & Arabic. Hebrew courses Dalet 2 and above can be considered for advance HEB credit. Students proficient in Hebrew can enroll in regular university courses. Optional intensive pre-semester ulpan is additional $1400 for course and $450 for housing.

Faculty

Courses taught by local faculty members. Students not nominated on exchange, or who are out-of-state, can participate at Haifa as an affiliate program (see below). Students proficient in Hebrew may take regular courses taught at the main University of Haifa, but must stay later since those courses fall on their regular academic schedule.

Program Cost

Students may be awarded needs-based Horvitz Scholarship of $1000. Students must pay $80 app fee to Haifa and $250 deposit upon acceptance. Students pay UT tuition, not Haifa tuition.

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee to UT and a $600 affiliate fee in place of regular UT tuition for every semester abroad. All other fees, including app fee and deposit, are paid to the program provider. Please see University of Haifa's website for program cost details. Financial aid scholarships may be used.
