The University of Melbourne offers incoming exchange students an opportunity to take a wide variety of courses alongside local students. It is located in the heart of Melbourne, the Cultural Capital of Australia. Its campus dormitories are open to exchange students insuring an excellent immersion experience. It is the oldest university in Australia and a member of the Group of Eight (Go8), a prestigious group of Australian Universities with a focus on intensive research and education. On the World University Rankings, it is the only Australian University to be ranked in the top thirty for all the subject areas, which include: Life Sciences & Biomedicine, Engineering & IT, Law, Arts & Humanities, Natural Science and Social Sciences. Students may attend for one semester or an entire academic year. UT and U. Melbourne have been succesfully exchanging students since 1993.

The University of Melbourne has a range of housing options from residence halls to university owned apartments. Students are responsible for finding housing. Apply for university housing as soon as possible since space is limited.

Program Cost

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee, a $500 Exchange fee and regular UT tuition for responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, food, local transportation, general living. Financial aid and scholarships may be used.

ME majors:usability engineering, electrical networks, biomechanics and biotransport, and biomaterials. CE majors: hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, civil hydraulics, and sustainable infrastructure. ChE/BME majors: transport processes, heat and mass transfer. UM is ranked one of best worldwide and first in Australia.

Housing

Students must apply for U. of Melbourne housing. Options range from re colleges to university owned apartments. Living in one of the univers residential colleges is a bit more expensive than living in Austin's w campus but it is highly recommended for the experience offers an unriv introduction to Australian culture.

Program Cost

One-time $75 application fee,$500 Exchange Admin fee, flat rate UT tuition/fees for a semester week fee for mandatory abroad health insurance. Students also purchase Australian mandated health insurance required for visa, visa costs, international round trip, dorm housing, meals, local transportation co Financial aid and scholarships apply.
