Academic Information

Courses taught by local faculty. Students have fewer contact hours with professors than they would have in the US. Students are expected to do extensive research and reading outside of class.

Faculty

Univ of Melbourne primarily operates on a 3-year degree system. Courses that start with 1 are generally 1st year, 2 designates 2nd year, and 3 designates 3rd year. Courses must be evaluated by UT Austin departments to determine lower division or upper division standing.

Housing

The University of Melbourne has a range of housing options from residence halls to university owned apartments. Students are responsible for finding housing. Apply for university housing as soon as possible since space is limited.

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee, a $500 Exchange fee and regular UT tuition for responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, food, local transportation, general living. Financial aid and scholarships may be used.

Academic Information

Many electives for ME/ECE/CAEE/others. ME majors:usability eng., electrical networks, biomechanics, biotransport, biomaterials. CE majors: hydrogeology, environmental chemistry, hydraulics, sustainable infrastructure. ChE/BME: transport processes, heat and mass transfer. Check with us regarding credit for courses not in the database.

Housing

Students apply for U. of Melbourne housing or offcampus housing. There are residential colleges & university owned apartments. Residential colleges are a bit more expensive than Austin's west campus but highly recommended for the immersion experience & intro to Australian culture. Offcampus housing is more economical.

Melbourne is one of Australia's oldest universities and has a peerless internatioal reputation. Study abroad students take courses alongside Australian students. Students must take 12-16 credits per semester. M Law credits.
