UT-Austin students have the opportunity to study on exchange at
Australian National University (ANU) located in Australia's capital,
Canberra.
Established in 1946, ANU is one of Australia's most research-intensive
and highly ranked universities. Ranked among the top 25 universities
in the world, ANU has approximately 14,400 students, 3,400 of whom are
internationals from 106 countries. With a population of over 345,000
and a median age of 34, Canberra people have the highest participation
rate in cultural and leisure activities in the country. Both mountains
for skiing and beautiful beaches are just a few hours away.
ANU is an excellent university in a great city, a perfect balance of
world-class academics and myriad cultural and outdoor opportunities!

Academic Information
Advanced understanding of content required. Generally, students take 3 classes per semester. ANU's research intensive focus creates a challenging environment for academically-minded students. There is an optional internship course as well.
Faculty
Courses taught by local faculty. Students have fewer contact hours with professors than they would have in the US. Students are expected to do extensive research and reading outside of class.

Housing
Students generally live in dormitory-style housing. University housing is guaranteed, however, students must apply for housing early. Private housing/rentals available. ANU provides service to help students find off-campus housing, rooms with telephone is standard.

Program Cost
Students pay a $75 application fee, a $500 Exchange Fee and regular UT tuition for their semester abroad. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, housing, local transportation, and general costs of living. Financial aid and scholarship may be used.
