UNIVERSITAET ST. GALLEN

 

UT-Austin students have the opportunity to study at St. Gallen Universitat. This exchange program will be of interest to students specifically in Business and Law. Founded in 1898, St. Gallen Universitat has 5,900 students and is ranked 25th in Europe and 1st in German-speaking Europe. The University offers courses in English and German and caters to a student body comprised of 25% international students from 40 different nationalities. The town of St. Gallen, founded in 610 AD by a monk, has 75,000 inhabitants and is located in the eastern, German-speaking part of Switzerland, close to the Austrian and German borders and nestled in a picturesque landscape close to the Swiss Alps. Students take regular university courses with students from the host country. There is no prior language requirement, as a wide selection of courses is taught in English. Participants earn regular UT in-residence credit. All grades earned for the courses undertaken are computed into the official UT GPA.

Academic Information

All St. Gallen courses transfer back to UT Austin as 2 credit hours each, so students should be flexible with the courses they hope to find at this school. St. Gallen is ideal for students majoring or minoring in MAN, MIS, and MKT, and for students who still need all of their upper division non business electives and free electives.

Program Cost

Students pay a $75 application fee, $500 Exchange Admin fee, and regular UT tuition for their semester exchange. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, housing, transportation, and costs of living. Participants pay required emergency health insurance coverage at $19 per week. Financial aid and scholarships can be used.
