The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) offers UT students an excellent opportunity to take a variety of courses alongside local students, and is a leader in providing real world experience in the classroom. UTS is one of Australia's largest and most respected universities and has a reputation for keeping up with the latest developments in management and technology. UTS brings experienced professionals from business and industry into the classroom to develop innovative courses. Specifically, this university is known for its academic rigor in Media Arts and Production (Film, Video, Sound, New Media), Journalism, Graphic Design, Architecture, Business, and Engineering. UTS has a very diverse student population of 30,000 and the main UTS campus is located near downtown Sydney. Participants earn regular UT in residence credit. All grades earned for the courses undertaken are computed into the official UT-Austin GPA, just as they would be for grades earned in courses taken on campus.

Academic Information

This university's academic structure is based on a modular course system, understanding of content area may be required. Generally, students take 3-4 courses per semester.

Faculty

Courses taught by local faculty. Students have fewer contact hours with professors than they would have in the US. Students are expected to do extensive research and reading outside of class. Some courses are flipped learning; students learn outside the classroom and come to the course with questions.

Housing is not guaranteed, but there are multiple options from limited on-campus housing, third-party student housing next to campus, or throughout Sydney.

Program Cost

Students pay a one-time $75 application fee, a $500 Exchange fee, and regular UT tuition while abroad. Students are responsible for airfare, passport/VISA, housing, food, local transportation, and general costs of living. Financial aid and scholarships may be used.
