Plan and direct the activities of the UTPB John Ben Shepperd Leadership Institute; providing young Texans an education for and about leadership, ethics, and public service.
Responsible for the day to day management and administration of the Institute in the development and implementation of the programs necessary to develop a well rounded leadership program to improve young Texans' personal leadership skills, develop their sense of community responsibility, and educate them on ethics and public service. Provide counseling to individuals and groups concerning the development and implementation of leadership programs; manage, supervise and evaluate support staff; prepare, distribute and manage the annual budget and prepare leadership materials. Establish an evaluation system to ensure quality control of the programs presented by the Institute. Make presentations to civic and business organizations to promote the Institute and its programs. Submit reports to the University, state and federal regulatory agencies as required.
Other related functions as assigned.
Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
Bachelors degree and at least five years experience in the organization and management of an independent department or organization; must have the ability to work effectively and efficiently, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Must have the ability to plan, direct, and evaluate a complex program and understand the principles of leadership and the development of programs and or curriculum. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
