This position is responsible for server hardware, operating systems, applications, and security for mission critical building security systems, including UTC Fire and Security (formerly GE) Picture Perfect.

Essential Functions

Administer Picture Perfect v 4.0 applications. Perform day-to-day system administration functions such as user support, trouble shooting, server configuration, and facilitating backups. Administer UNIX (AIX and Linux) and Microsoft Windows server systems; perform routine system administration functions including: OS installs and updates, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and hardware maintenance. Evaluate, recommend, plan, implement, and document enhancements to production systems and internal ITS resources. Monitoring of all critical network and system events. Provide 24/7 on-call support (on rotation) for the Campus Security System. Assist with the administration and management of network security. Provide technical training and expertise to team and stakeholders as needed to ensure standards and quality are being met. Maintain compliance with current security standard and policies. Make recommendations for updates as needed.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or other technical field, or five years of equivalent experience. Three years of system administration experience. Three years of experience in systems design, analysis and programming. Three years administering UNIX and Windows operating systems. Knowledge of the broad scope of Network, Systems, and Information Security administration roles. A strong understanding of common desktop operating systems. Basic understanding of database systems and SQL. Familiarity with software package management systems, patches, and software compilation. Familiarity with concepts such as RAID, LPAR, hardware diagnostics, backups, replication, failure -recovery procedures. Experience providing technical support to computer users. Experience with server and network administration. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Must pass a comprehensive background check. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with building access control systems. Experience administering and upgrading UTC Fire and Security Picture Perfect access control application. Working knowledge of network firewalls, switches and routers. Experience with programming languages preferably Python and Shell. Hands-on experience with or detailed knowledge of: DNS, LDAP, Active Directory, Group Policy objects, Nagios, Apache, Tomcat Administration, MySQL, NFS, Sendmail, SSL/certificate management, MS Windows, packet dump analyzers, and firewalls. Experience with server performance measurement is a plus. Hands-on experience with vmWare, Hyper V, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Terminal server. Proven superior information technology troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills.
