About the Center: The Center of Excellence serves the Paso del Norte region in research, education and policy advocacy to promote healthy nutrition and physical activity, especially among children.
Under the general supervision of the Director of the Center of Excellence, this position is responsible for technical and analytic assignments related to the development and administration of Center activities, programs and personnel.
Assumes responsibility for departmental, program, or center projects. Conducts analysis and research on problem definition and issue resolution. Makes recommendations as appropriate. May coordinate implementation efforts. Researches, drafts, and coordinates departmental, program, or center communication and correspondence for issue resolution and policy clarification. Maintains departmental, program, or center programmatic files and records. Tracks and reconciles departmental, program, or center expenses, and prepares related reports. Prepares and revises public relations materials. Designs and manages research dissemination processes. Organizes events and activities for faculty, staff and affiliated community groups associated with the various projects. Gathers information and analyzes data for use in decisions, reports and summaries. Takes and distributes minutes from meetings and events as appropriate.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from four year college or university within area of assigned responsibility. Three years of related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience and thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures; ability to apply correct English grammar usage, spelling, punctuation and proofreading; excellent customer service skills; documented ability to work well with people from various levels within a given organization, and proven ability to work congenially and effectively with members of the general public. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple duties and to schedule assignments to meet deadlines. Ability to use business math to analyze budgetary data and make accurate projections requiring some inference; ability to effectively use judgment and discretion when precedents do not exist in a fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy; ability to enter data and text with speed and accuracy. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Bilingual English/Spanish speaking, reading and writing skills. Ability to maintain financial records, monitor budget balances, track and compare data; ability to independently interpret and apply complex policies. Experience handling confidential personnel materials; ability to use PeopleSoft, Banner or other human resources and financial management systems; and knowledge of university, policies and procedures.
