Assist in architectural design, planning, implementation, and communication to the campus IT community and integrates third-party and open source software into the campus environment. Assume responsibility to lead multiple staff in resolution of highly complex issues involving multiple technical domains.
Lead the implementation and operation support of enterprise software services in a complex, tiered computing environment by assigning tasks, selecting team members, and meeting project milestones and schedules. Implement, extend, and maintain enterprise applications and services. Defining project charters, timelines, technical deliverables, and resource allocation. Presenting project implementation plans and schedules to management.
May require occasional extended work hours or on-call obligation.
Demonstrated experience in leading the design and implementation of enterprise software applications in a complex, tiered computing environment. Extensive experience with Windows Server and/or Linux, scripting, application servers, databases, and managing Dev + QA + Production environments. Expert knowledge in heterogeneous, multi-disciplinary, integrated enterprise platforms and infrastructure. Ability to make technical presentations to teams, focus groups, management, and governance committees. Presents new project implementation plans and schedules to management. Demonstrated experience in project management understanding and key concepts. Experience in defining project charters, timelines, technical deliverables, and resource allocation. Demonstrated experience in leading diverse technical projects, including assigning tasks, selecting team members, and meeting project milestones and schedules. Five or more years of professional experience. Bachelor degree required or equivalent experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Five years of professional experience in Windows Server and/or Linux-based system integration and administration. Three years working within virtualized environments, particularly VMWare. In-depth experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, automated incident response systems, change management processes, network management, information security, and distributed computing environments. Experience with establishing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements. Experience customizing commercial and open source applications. Experience with managing and extending Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas), messaging services (e.g., Exchange Server/Online), and/or collaborative software/services (e.g., SharePoint, Xythos Digital Locker, Box.net). Experience with customizing and supporting web hosting platforms, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure. Experience with the UT Austin information technology environment (i.e. architecture, infrastructure, organizations).
