To provide hands-on technical support and leadership for client-side (desktops, laptops, etc.) systems management, mobile device encryption and other centralized system management services required for the contracted Managed Desktop Support service and enterprise customers and partners.
Provide desktop system administration, management, and support in a managed computing environment using systems management techniques: Group Policies in Active Directory, SCCM, Absolute Manage, imaging processes, software packaging and deployment, operating system updates, third party software updates, etc. Advance the concepts and practices of desktop systems administration and management by collaborating with technical groups across the enterprise, communicating information via wikis, trainings, forums, and public speaking opportunities with enterprise customers and partners; developing, documenting, and improving operating system and application deployment and management services; and maintaining and supporting high quality service for the service life-cycle. In addition to desktop systems administration, this role will provide enterprise level support of encryption and backup services for customers at University of Texas at Austin. This will involve working with vendors, technical support, troubleshooting, and documentation for enterprise customers. Provide high level technical desktop support and mentoring to desktop support specialists as needed. Manage hardware life cycle processes; maintain enterprise hardware configuration standards, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in standard concepts, practices and procedures for systems administration. Experience with Absolute Manage, System Center Configuration Manager or comparable tools. Able to quickly learn the UT Austin IT environment and policies. Must have a drive for results, be action oriented, customer focused, able to make timely decisions, plan and set priorities and clearly communicate information to wide audiences. Functional systems administration technical skills, training and experience. Demonstrated ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical issues and customer requests or requirements including network connectivity and managed Windows and Mac operating systems. Demonstrated excellent customer service, written and verbal communication and professional phone presence skills. Demonstrated commitment to professional improvement, self-development and able to learn new technologies quickly. Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision and experience working with a team to scope, coordinate, and complete Information Technology projects. History of providing reliable and security conscious technical administration and support. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's Degree. Experience with process enhancements to realize efficiencies, innovation and providing solutions to meet business requirements. Experience providing technical support for faculty and staff in an education institution. Two or more years of experience in systems administration. Knowledge and troubleshooting of Windows Deployment Services and Microsoft Deployment in the creation, maintenance, and deployment of Windows operating system images. MCSE is a plus.
