As an Enterprise Service Engineer for Informational Technology Services at the University of Texas at Austin, you will complement a high-performing team that is responsible for the design, installation, customization, and maintenance of highly-scalable enterprise-level services.

Essential Functions

Installs, configures, and maintains system components, application servers, and libraries that support enterprise services for a large university campus. Designs and writes system programs to optimize and/or simplify systems-related tasks. Consults with stakeholders to identify hardware and software needs. Makes recommendations to enhance the systems and monitors to achieve optimum performance levels. Maintains systems in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.

Required qualifications

Possess a broad knowledge of enterprise application configuration, customization, and optimization. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor with excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with at least two computer programming/scripting languages. One year of professional experience in Linux/Unix-based system integration, administration, and support. Working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in systems administration and/or application support. Able to analyze and resolve complex technical issues to meet needs of faculty, staff and students with widely varying technical backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work independently and without day-to-day supervision on highly varied technical tasks with changing priorities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field of study. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters' degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent field. Three years of professional experience in Linux/Unix-based system integration, administration, and support. Professional experience installing and managing modern enterprise content management systems. Experience working within virtualized environments, particularly VMWare. Professional experience with system monitoring, performance tuning, automated incident response systems, change management processes, network management, information security, and distributed computing environments. Experience with establishing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements is also highly desired.
