Serve as Office Manager and assistant to the Chair for the Department of Geography and the Environment.
Support the Chair with full knowledge of University Policy and Procedures. Manage staff, including timekeeping, policy issues, distribution of duties, etc. Consult with chair for performance evaluations and salary increases. Manage faculty appointment process, including tenure, tenure track, and temporary. Process PARs for new faculty hires and all hiring documents including the placement of ads to fulfill new positions. Salary update documents as requested. Prepare budgets for Chair as requested, manage soft money allocations, make SRF requests, reconcile accounts as needed. Update and maintain contracts and grants for GLO and TNRIS grants. Manage promotion and tenure process. Keep track of faculty status in terms of tenure timelines. Manage faculty review process including 3rd year review, post tenure review, and promotion.
Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and three years of clerical experience, including one year of experience at either the Administrative Assistant or the Administrative Associate level, or high school graduation or GED, and seven years of clerical experience, including one year at either the Administrative Assistant or the Administrative Associate level. One year of full-time equivalent, applicable experience may be substituted for each thirty semester hours of college credit earned, or vice versa; however, a minimum of one year of applicable experience is required. Professional demeanor, ability to keep regular, punctual hours. Thorough understanding of and committment to upholding the University Policies and Procedures. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in College of Liberal Arts. More than the required number of years experience in either administrative associate or administrative assistant level. Knowledge of UT software. Familiarity with HRMS.
