Under the direction of the Harry Ransom Center's Book Cataloging Dept. Head, the position will be responsible for item-level cataloging of 17th-19th-century Spanish language plays (Sueltas) in a local database.
Cataloging of 17th-19th-century Spanish language plays (Sueltas), according to project specific guidelines derived from national standards such as Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books) and Anglo American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed., Rev.; and using controlled vocabularies such as Library of Congress Subject Headings and the RBMS Controlled Vocabularies. Keep statistics and prepare individual project summary.
Other related functions as assigned.
High school graduation or GED. Four years of applicable library work experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Experience in monographic cataloging; knowledge of cataloging standards such as Descriptive Cataloging of Rare Materials (Books) and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules, 2nd ed., rev.; demonstrated ability to create and work accurately with bibliographic records; knowledge of printing and publishing history; experience using a personal computer; high attention to detail; strong reading knowledge of Spanish.
