To supervise accounting personnel and activities in performing complex, professional accounting work. Responsible for supervising and directing accounting activities and personnel in the area of assignment.
Supervising 3 accounting personnel in the performance of assignments involving the recording, analysis, and reporting of financial data. Analyzes section work load, determines work priority and oversees work progress. Trains assigned personnel. Implements policies and procedures. Preparing and maintaining the operating budget. Monitors accounts, transactions and/or processes to ensure integrity and reliability. Recommends more effective and efficient operational procedures. Develops and recommends the implementation of departmental goals and objectives. Managing the preparation of required Federal and institutional reconciliation reports. Prepares monthly financial reports and schedules for annual financial reports. Interprets and ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Overseeing the financial aid funds management process. Attends staff meetings. Attends conferences, seminars or other professional development venues. Managing the preparation of financial reports for data analysis. Supervises the preparation of statistical reports. Manages special projects.

Bachelor's Degree. Demonstration of the following competencies. Competency Profile, Motivating others, Planning work for others, Managing conflict, Managing and measuring work, Managing diversity and Complying with policies and procedures at The University of Texas at Austin, typically acquired by four years of accounting or auditing experience, some supervisory experience, use of personal computer and other standard office machines and the University's Transition to Management Certificate or equivalent. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Advanced degree. Five or more years of accounting or auditing experience. Fund accounting experience. Two or more years of supervisory experience. Accuracy in all phases of work performed. Ability to communicate with customers to evaluate service quality and make improvements. Ability to work with staff to build a team atmosphere. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrated good proficiency with financial analysis and accounting processes. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Successful candidate must be willing to divest of any stock or other ownership interest in a student loan lender before start of employment. Shares in a publicly traded mutual fund or similar investment vehicle are exempted.
