Coordinates the administrative activities of the Latin American Studies graduate programs.
Academic advising management for MA, dual degree MA, and PhD students. Reviews degree requirements with students, advises students on registration and add/drops, and processes advising bars. Handles all aspects of graduate program record keeping including but not limited to student progress, alumni employment, annual evaluations, advisor committees, and funding commitments. Responsible for doctoral and master's candidacy processing, and providing program of work for candidacy applications. Coordinates graduate admissions process. Handles all queries from prospective students and the public regarding the admissions process, program eligibility, program requirements, and financial support. Works with admissions committee on applicant review and admissions decisions. Coordinates fellowships, scholarships and travel grants. Works closely with the LLILAS Director and staff to appoint Teaching Assistants and Graduate Research Assistants. Administers FLAS grant. Coordinates new student orientation and welcome activities. Coordinates supportive programming for students throughout the academic year, including thesis workshops and study abroad/research workshops. Coordinates LLILAS graduation ceremony and activities. Interacts frequently with university students, faculty, staff and outside agencies. Represents the graduate program to the Office of Graduate Studies and the International Office. Provides in-depth information and is responsible for clarification and interpretation and ensures compliance with institutional rules, regulations and procedures. Serves as staff liaison to student association, ILASSA. Coordinates career development, internship, and placement programs for graduate students. Tracks graduate professional placement. Designs and implements procedures for improvement to program activities. Gathers information and prepares reports for program analysis. Prepares and maintains statistical reports. Updates graduate catalog. Assists with various projects and committees as assigned. Participates in professional conferences and individual professional development. Serves as back-up course scheduler as necessary.

Bachelor's degree. Five years of experience working with college students, ideally graduate students, in an administrative or advising capacity. Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Excellent verbal and written communication skills using tact, diplomacy, and discretion at all times, including the ability to communicate with diverse populations. Independent decision making and problem solving ability. Demonstrated, recent, exemplary work record. Ability to organize short- and long-term priorities and projects and work with deadlines. Experience dealing with confidential and sensitive information. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Must be flexible and willing to take on new responsibilities. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master's degree, preferably in Latin American Studies or a related discipline. More than five years of above experience. Experience as a graduate coordinator. Experience with EASI, FaSet, NRRECS, GSADM, HRMS, VIP, FRMS, Filemaker and Microsoft Office. Thorough knowledge of UT rules, policies, and procedures. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Portuguese, or trilingual. Basic understanding of Latin American cultures and societies.
