Additional Information

Purpose

To assist and support postdoctoral fellows and senior research staff with preparing and running molecular biology and biochemistry experiments, as well as perform research related activities in the laboratory.

Essential Functions

Mammalian cell culture and mouse work. Designing and analyzing experiments using Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint and other software. Benchwork including PCR, cloning, in vitro transcription, gel electrophoresis, and qPCR. Perform scientific experiments related to aptamer binding and therapeutic treatment of cancer cells. Laboratory and stock maintenance duties and ordering supplies. Minor clerical duties, data entry, etc.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, biochemistry, or other related scientific field. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, organize time efficiently, and attention to detail. Good organizational skills and record keeping abilities. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more years as a laboratory assistant or technician in a field related to the work to be performed, including previous experience beyond a college laboratory course with PCR, in vitro transcription, immunoblotting, flow cytometry, cell culture, Microsoft office and other software. Lab experience with PCR and gel electrophoresis. Basic knowledge of molecular cloning techniques; mammalian cell tissue culture techniques; and flow cytometry. Knowledge with standard laboratory practices, solution preparation, and equipment including micro and low speed centrifuges.
