Additional Information

Purpose

Custodial maintenance of buildings and miscellaneous related services for the Custodial Department of Facilities Management.

Essential Functions

Floor maintenance consisting of waxing/buffing and sweeping/mopping. Vacuum and clean rugs. Dust furniture. Scrubs, cleans, and polishes lavatories, fixtures, and mirrors. Carries out and disposes of garbage and trash. Pool maintenance - Operate pool vacuum machine to sweep pool; test water using a pool water test kit. Assure energy conservation by ensuring all non-necessary lights are turned off (classrooms, offices, etc). Make an identification of all problems requiring a work order for correction, such as light bulb replacement, lock adjustment, carpet repair, broken glass, holes in walls, ceiling tile replacement, tripping hazards, termites, etc.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Identify obvious facility deficiencies that are observed during the shift. May use a University vehicle. Other functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

No education or experience required. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor. Ability to read English. Knowledge of and ability to use janitorial equipment and supplies. Preferred Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. 6 months experience in custodial maintenance work. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License (or other states' equivalent for driving a personal vehicle) or higher. Ability to effectively execute oral and written instructions.
