To provide administrative support in the area of certification to the Office of the Dean in terms of personnel, clerical, financial, academic, and professional needs as assigned in assuring the smooth, efficient, and effective operation of the School of Education.
Schedule appointments for certification officer on Graduate and Undergraduate Students for certification. Assist School Districts and students who have been recommended by districts for probationary certifications or deficiency plans. Gather all necessary documents and fees from school districts and students. Verify all credentials with State Board pertaining to students before submitting on-line applications to the State Mail out letters to school districts and students on recommendation for their probationary and deficiency plans after submitting to the State Board. Assist education students seeking out of state certification. Verify with the State Board all necessary credentials and tests needed for students to certify in the State of Texas. Submitting all certification applications and proper credentials to the State Board of Education on Students applying for Teaching Certificates Verify all course work is complete in their teaching field, collect all fees and verify all certification requirements have been completed, before submitting. Mail out letters to districts (if student has been hired) and students after certification has been submitted to the State Board on recommendation for their certification. Maintain database on all students on Probationary Certificates, Deficiency Plans, and State Certifications for reporting purposes and for TExES coordinator. Act as Liaison to surrounding school districts on all aspects of certification on behalf of the School of Education. Assist Teachers seeking advising on TExES Tests and state board requirements for certification. Assist Certification Officer on verifying that students applying to the certification program and have met all requirements on core subjects and have been accepted into the program before continuing with education certification degree plans Collect all student teacher applications and check for completion of and submission of all documents needed before reviewed by the School of Education Student Teacher Committee. Maintain and gather all pertinent information on all State Board Test dates on LOTE, BTLPT, and TExES tests, to distribute to students in the certification program. Maintain and update all student files in the School of Education
Performs related duties as required.
High school diploma, Associates degree, or college-level course(s) in business or related field from an accredited institution of higher education; demonstrated competence in oral and written skills; effectiveness in communication with a variety of constituents. Minimum three years as Administrative Secretary or Administrative Assistant with duties deemed applicable to this position, or equivalent work experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelors degree in an appropriate field from an accredited senior-level institution of higher education. More than three years in a similar or equivalent position, or comparable experience.
