This position is security-sensitive and does not include supervisory responsibilities. Normal work hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Job duties may require working additional hours outside of those identified as normal.

Additional Information

Purpose

This position will assist in meeting the goals and objectives of the Purchasing Department. Duties will include but are not limited to reviewing and processing purchase requisitions, back up administrator for the e-procurement system and special projects assistant.

Essential Functions

Reviews purchase requisitions and other procurement related documents. Obtain clarifications, participate in the creation of product or service specifications and determine appropriate procurement method. Confer with suppliers to obtain product/service information to include pricing, availability and delivery schedules. Maintain procurement records. Complies with all State and University policies. Assist and perform research with special projects for SciQuest People Soft implementation and other procurement related objectives. Reviews requisitions; confers with department for clarifications, specifications, and preferred suppliers. Estimates values according to knowledge of market price. Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid; prepares purchase orders or bid requests. Reviews bid proposals or purchase orders; distributes documents to respective department (s) for review and approval within budgetary limitations and scope of authority. Maintains procurement records such as items or services Back-up administrator assistant to maintenance and operations of the e-procurement system. Develops cost analysis and measure of performance reports.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university within the assigned areas of responsibility. Two years related experience to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
