Provides administrative support to department faculty or administrator requiring the use of initiative and independent judgment and to coordinate the office management activities of the assigned organizational units.

Essential Functions

Answer phones; act as contact person for office. Administrative support: Open and distribute mail,answer routine inquiries. Interview callers, make and cancel appointments, and answer questions. Maintain and process purchase requisitions, payment vouchers, travel requests and reimbursements, payroll processing, weekly time reports, and leave adjustments for conformity to university policies. Gathers and compiles information from a number of sources and refers pertinent information to the supervisors. Checks manuscripts for accuracy; maintains thesis/dissertation database.

Marginal/Incidental functions

May handle phone overflow from other offices. Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of office experience. Proficiency using computers and office software packages. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

DEFINE experience. POISE experience. PeopleSoft experience.
