A Senior Research scientist plans and conducts experiments to increase the body of scientific knowledge on topics related to the field of study. They may also aim to develop new, or improve existing products.
Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to develop biomedical devices and systems Work with multidisciplinary project teams to develop, track, and deliver project tasks on time Manage industry / academia collaboration Lead technology programs and assist in transferring technology towards commercialization Contribute patentable ideas and prepare patent disclosures and patent applications. Deliver effective presentations, reports and publications internally and externally as appropriate. Identify funding opportunities and prepare and submit proposals to government agencies, industry, and academic partners

Ph.D. in Engineering or Scientific discipline. At least 3 years of directly applicable engineering experience. Demonstrated hands-on experience of a complete biomedical device development that includes design, analysis, fabrication, and test. Must be able to work on ITAR related projects. Appointment will be based on qualifications of candidate selected. Experience with development in a regulated industry such as medical device, defense, aerospace, or automotive. Experience with creating and managing technical baselines consisting of specifications, interfaces, designs and engineering drawings. Experience in medical device design transfer to manufacturing or direct experience in manufacturing. Project leadership experience and training. Aptitude for effective teamwork and self-starting independent work. Ability to interact with customers. Has a passion and interest in evaluating and applying breakthrough design solutions. Dynamic, results driven and inventive multidisciplinary technical leader. Experience writing grants for federal and industrial funding with successful record on submitted proposals. Experience working with industry and / or start-ups.
