A Principal Research Scientist oversees all aspects of projects and guides the research to meet the desired scope of the field of study. Aim to develop new, or improve existing products. Use of expertise resulting in publications, patents, and/or products.
Invent, design, model, simulate and test unique solutions relating to at least one of the following areas: Electrochemical energy storage and conversion, Photovoltaic energy conversion, Advanced engines/vehicle technologies, Chemical catalysis/reaction engineering for biofuels, industrial processes, and other energy applications,Biological approaches to energy conversion/biofuels,Low temperature waste heat recapture/thermodynamic and/or solid state cycles Fossil energy conversion/carbon capture and conversion,Wind power/ocean and wave power/aerodynamics and fluid dynamics, Grid scale energy storage, Energy harvesting materials and devices,Building efficiency technologies/HVAC/building envelope/smart buildings, Advanced lighting technologies, Advanced materials for energy applications Manage industry and academia collaboration Lead technology programs and assist in transferring technology towards commercialization Contribute patentable ideas and prepare patent disclosures and patent applications Deliver effective presentations, reports and publications internally and externally as appropriate Identify funding opportunities and prepare and submit proposals to government agencies, industry, and academic partner

Ph.D. in an energy-relevant field of science or engineering. At least 5 years of relevant energy-related experience in academia or industry. Demonstrated hands-on experience with development of an energy-related project. Must be able to work on ITAR related projects. Appointment will be based on qualifications of candidate selected.
