Additional Information

Purpose

To assist with the management of Gregory Gym including the equipment, capital projects, policies and procedures, events, and personnel.

Essential Functions

Hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate a large part-time student staff to oversee Gregory Gym. Oversee daily operations: monitor facility and equipment usage, coordinate Informal Recreation activities, conduct inspections and risk management assessments, develop and implement systems, and oversee maintenance and repair needs. Provide on-site coordination of special events and RecSports' programs: arrange services, coordinate set-up and take-down, provide event supervision, technical support and evaluation, operate equipment, and work with event sponsors in planning and conducting events. Develop, interpret, and apply policies and procedures as they relate to the use of facilities, and consult with and respond to participant questions and concerns. Develop, recommend, and coordinate capital improvement projects, permanent equipment purchases and equipment installations and repairs. Research, purchase, inventory, and distribute sports equipment and supplies. Serve as a contributing member of divisional staff and the recreational sports profession. Participate in goal setting and future direction planning, serve on committees, be involved in professional organizations, prepare presentations and write proposals, and maintain professional knowledge required for position. Work on special projects and perform other tasks as assigned.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Drive a University vehicle.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Master's degree in Recreation, Student Personnel Administration or closely related field. One year experience in a college-level recreational sports program. Experience in facility management, event coordination, personnel administration and/or managing informal recreation activities. Excellent written and verbal communication, public relations, organizational, planning and computer skills. Licenses: Class "C' Operator's Driver's License. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Preferred Qualifications

Involvement with NIRSA, First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.
