Manage the academic advising program and create new initiatives in academic advising for The University of Texas at Austin Online High School (UTOHS).

Essential Functions

Conduct the day-to day activities of the academic advising program and create new initiatives in academic advising program. Provide program enrollment information and academic advisement to prospective and current students, both individually and in groups. Serve as liaison to parents, guardians, faculty, staff, and the community at large to answer questions regarding UTOHS offerings and academic issues.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Attend conferences and make presentations about the program. Other related functions as assigned.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or related field and six years of experience working with high school students or in an academic counseling capacity or Master's degree in a related field and four years of experience. Experience in K-12 or K-16 online or distance education. Online instructor certification or willing to accept employment with the condition that online instructor certification must be obtained within 1 year of start date. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate work beyond the Master's degree and more than the required experience. Eight years of experience in K-16 online education. Teacher certification in K-12 content area. Knowledge of state academic performance standards and assessments requirements. Experience in working with students to prepare for transition to post-secondary learning. Experience with international high school students.
