To provide the entry-level technical skills required to translate the definitions and terminology used by systems analysts into the types of reports, charts and diagrams, from which programmers can efficiently perform their tasks.

Essential Functions

Create reports using the Jasper GUI designer that are retrievable in several formats. Create statistical reports. Develop and execute queries from State Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) and other databases. Develop a new web portal for SDWIS using best design practices. Assist . Assists in the analysis of problems as defined by the systems user, systems administrator and expands the definitions to be suitable to the programmer's requirements. Designs test files. Performs debugging and modifies existing programs for specific uses as assigned by the systems administrator. Develops more efficient programming techniques. Performs documentation. Assists on implementations of systems and job streams. Performs related duties as required.

Required qualifications

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university with major course work in data processing, computer science, or related field. 1 year of experience in programming or analysis for electronic computers. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer programming and systems analysis; of computer operations procedures and systems; and of computer programming languages. Skill in problem solving, critical thinking, and computer programming and in the operation of computers and their hardware and software. Ability to design programs and systems architecture; to prepare program specifications; to code, test and debug computer programs; to interpret technical information related to computer programming and other areas of data processing; and to communicate effectively.
