Additional Information

Purpose

Manage the Dept Photography lab (both wet and digital facilities), incl but not limited to: daily operations, safety procedures, equipment maintenance, technological and digital operations, cleanliness, chemical maintenance. The position is a 9 month position from mid-August through mid-May.

Essential Functions

Daily management of photo wet lab and computer lab incl: monitor equipment status; assist students and faculty with processes in darkroom and in computer lab; maintain safety regulations; order, inventory and maintain all equipment and supplies; maintain cleanliness. Remain current with photography digital software and hardware. Obtain knowledge and train faculty and students on new digital photography software programs and equipment (printers, et al). Oversee safety of the lab. Includes but is not limited to: working with EVHS office on campus, posting of signage for safety, operation of equipment, rules and regulations of the lab, maintenance of safety equipment. Oversee door alarm systems, assign new codes and remove old codes as necessary. Maintain a current up-to-date inventory data base. Oversee equipment check out procedures. Responsible for all equipment. Prepare final inventory and closing of the lab at semester end with area head. Responsible for seeing to the repair and surplus of equipment as needed. Schedule and communicate all cleaning and maintenance needs to university facilities management crews, incl trash removal, vacuuming, mopping. Prepare and submit work orders as requested or as needed, for all materials, new equipment, equipment repairs.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Visual Arts, preferably photography. Minimum of two years experience in the skilled operation and maintenance of photography equipment, digital (computers/printers) and darkroom. Expertise and demonstrated ongoing interest and practice in digital imaging technology; hardware, software and equipment. Working knowledge of software programs such as PhotoShop CS6 Extended, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash Professional, Fireworks, Acrobat X Pro, Bridge CS6, Lightroom, Final Cut Pro. Ability to participate in a collaborative, respectful and work-friendly environment with a professional demeanor and attitude. Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and without close supervision. Responsible and reliable in attendance and work ethic. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Masters Degree in Photography. Working photographer with expertise in both black and white wet processing and digital photography. Experience training and working with students. Experience managing inventory and keeping a database up to date.
