The UT-Austin College of Liberal Arts is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and organized individual who enjoys working with diverse groups of people to coordinate projects and operations for the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL). This position is funded through 8/14/14 with future employment subject to funding renewal.
Coordinate the development of online instructional materials for language learning and other projects of the Center for Open Educational Resources and Language Learning (COERLL).
Support foreign language faculty with coordinating the development of online instructional materials, including creating project plans, managing production workflow, tracking process of projects, and compiling project reports. Coordinate administrative needs for COERLL projects, including preparing project budgets, hiring staff, and purchasing equipment and supplies. Administer and publish online content in WordPress, Drupal, and other content authoring systems. Provide support and training to faculty on using open source technology and authoring tools to produce online educational resources. Promote and disseminate COERLL projects to educators, language learners, and the community through various outlets, including: news feeds on websites and social media, community discussion forums and listservs, OER repositories, and in-person conferences, workshops, etc.
Assist with answering support requests from users of COERLL-managed websites. Stay up-to-date on current trends in language learning and open educational resources (OER). Other related functions as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Education, Foreign Language Studies, Instructional Technology, or related field. Five years of experience coordinating or administering a program in the field of education or technology. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Master's degree in Education, Foreign Language Studies, Instructional Technology, or related field. More than five years of experience coordinating or administering a program in the field of education or technology. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Experience authoring and publishing content in an online management system, blog, wiki, or learning management system. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently with little supervision. Experience teaching a foreign language. Experience developing online educational materials. Experience training educators in the use of technology for education. Knowledge of open education principles and practices (e.g. copyright issues, content authoring tools, repositories, etc.). Knowledge of instructional design principles and learning methodologies related to online learning environments. Experience working in a university setting.
