Additional Information

Purpose

To provide all aspects of responsible legal and administrative support for attorneys and other staff within the Office of General Counsel.

Essential Functions

Handles initial file set-up, database entry and file distribution. Reviews and distributes in-coming mail. Receives and maintains accounting records of payments received. Assists Section Manager with administrative matters, including tracking of hours and leave of section staff. Handles various payment vouchers/check preparation. Tracks case activity using Access database. Accesses external billing systems to accomplish tasks. Drafts/files bankruptcy correspondence, pleadings and claims.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 3 years of administrative experience. One year of college, 30 semester hours, may be substituted for one year of required experience, up to 2 years substituted experience. Knowledge of standard office practices. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use standard office equipment such as copy machines, multi-line telephones, fax machines. Ability to use standard personal computer. Ability to perform basic tasks using the Microsoft Office Suite. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior UT experience; bachelor's degree; or paralegal degree preferred.
