General Notes

This position starts as soon as possible. This position is wholly funded by outside grants, and is subject to continued funding. Successful applicant must provide their own transportation to Middle and High Schools in Pflugerville and Bastrop ISDs. Actual work schedule will depend on the schedules at the schools.

Provide reading intervention in small group setting to struggling high school readers.

Essential Functions

Use research-based reading materials to provide instructional reading intervention for qualifying high school students who struggle with reading. Compile intervention data gathered from instructional sessions. Participate in training and meeting with other intervention personnel and teachers. Organize and administer materials for intervention. Administer standardized tests to students. Travel to sites using a personal vehicle.

Licenses: Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Marginal/Incidental functions

Other related functions as assigned.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field. Four years of experience teaching. Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communications. Professional demeanor. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Education or a related field. Current Texas teacher certification. Experience teaching middle school through high school students in a reading area. Knowledge of research and evaluation methods.

Working conditions

May work around standard office conditions Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity Constant exposure to fluorescent lighting in a windowless work environment. Constant exposure to rural and urban public Middle and High School environments. Frequent local travel using your own vehicle.
