Facilitate cultural programming, social justice education, and multicultural leadership development initiatives for Multicultural Affairs.

Essential Functions

Serve as a positive role model, mentor and supervisor for student employees and volunteers for departmental teams including the Multicultural Mavericks, Women in Leadership, Leaders Educating About Diversity, and LGBTQA Program Pride Peers. Serve as advisor for student planning committees of the Multicultural Mavericks program which includes coordination of Hispanic Heritage, Asian Heritage, and Black History Months. Assist the Director with providing diversity education programs and teaching of social justice education workshops Also assist with development and oversight of multicultural leadership development programs including the Black Leadership Institute, Kaleidoscope Multicultural Leaders Retreat, and Women in Leadership Summit Advocate on behalf of, serve as advisor to, and coordinate activities for culturally based student organizations. Help to facilitate positive student interactions, propose interventions, and manage conflict resolution. Assist with department reports, division strategic planning, and program assessment including the development of learning outcomes that are rooted in student development and cultural identity theory best practices. Serve on University and Student Affairs committees as assigned. Foster collaboration amongst units on campus wide initiatives such as Diversity Week and Welcome Week. Work closely with all areas to develop cross-cultural sensitivity and multicultural competencies and to explore issues of diversity, personal identity, and social justice.

Required qualifications

Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or College Student Personnel. 1 year experience in working with diverse populations in a higher education environment. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated experience in planning cultural events/activities and programs. Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced office environment. Preferred Qualifications

Teaching and training related to diversity and social justice education. Experience with advising college students and student organizations especially culturally based groups. Ability to mentor and develop leadership among students and student groups. Understanding and practical application of student development theories with an emphasis on minority student development. Well versed in the research associated with the retention of underrepresented student populations. Experience producing departmental reports and assessment. Experience in budget management. Strong computer skills. Working conditions: May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Lifting and moving.
