Performs complex licensing and permitting work. Work involves receiving and reviewing permit applications; ensuring compliance with applicable policies, administrative codes, and statutes; communicating with external and internal customers; and approving permits. To provide customer service to clients.

Essential Functions

Reviews applications for stormwater general permits, under the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) program for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with all applicable rules and established division procedures and guidelines. Provides telephone service to the general public; answers questions regarding completing and submitting applications; and supplies information regarding permit processing, policies, and procedures. Support and resolve customer inquiries. Enter both customer requests and the completion information of those requests into an order processing system with minimal errors. Locate and interpret complex information from a number of databases and systems. Communicates with applicants, both orally and in writing, to resolve inaccurate or incomplete applications. Access customer account information via computer software and make necessary entries in order to resolve problems. Participates in agency Central Registry maintenance and data cleanup. Performs related work as assigned.

Required qualifications

High School or equivalent. Three years customer service experience. Use of personal computer and standard office equipment. Proficiency in all phases of work performed. Usual office environment.
