To provide the technical skills required to translate the definitions and terminology used by systems analysts into the types of reports, charts, and diagrams from which programmers can efficiently perform their tasks.
Analyze problems as defined by analysts in terms of data processing equipment requirements, capabilities, speed, and costs. Coordinate and support migration to new data management system software levels and tests the migrations to ensure data reliability and functionality. Design, analyze, and maintain database structures, and assists in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment. Develop and execute queries from State Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) and other databases. Develop a new web portal for SDWIS using best design practices. Assists in the analysis of problems as defined by the systems user, systems administrator and expands the definitions to be suitable to the programmer's requirements. Designs test files. Performs debugging and modifies existing programs for specific uses as assigned by the systems administrator. Develops more efficient programming techniques. Performs documentation. Assists on implementations of systems and job streams. May train others. Performs related work as assigned May train and supervise Programmer Analyst I's or Computer Programmers in complex areas of analysis and programming.

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.2 years of experience in programming and analysis for electronic computer systems common to the University of Texas of Arlington or another State Agency. Requires good knowledge of capabilities of electronic computers systems common to the University of Texas at Arlington. Exact accuracy is required. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred one year of full-time experience in computer programming/systems analysis within the State Drinking Water Quality Information System (SDWIS).
