Purpose

To work as part of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team to facilitate and strengthen strategic corporate partnerships for The University of Texas at Austin, with an emphasis on the development and marketing of sponsorship opportunities.

Essential Functions

Build a broad understanding of fundraising priorities across campus, especially university programs and events that lend themselves to corporate support and or sponsorship. Develop relationships with selected companies, gain an understanding of their funding priorities, and promote their engagement in university programs and events. Follow up on new leads generated by the Research Services team in the University Development Office to broaden corporate engagement with UT. Work with schools and colleges to promote sponsorship opportunities to companies seeking ways to engage with the university at multiple levels. Support the colleges and schools in sustaining and cultivating relationships with existing corporate partners. Develop a deep understanding of university policies relating to corporate sponsorships, corporate recognition, and non-cash corporate gifts (e.g., data, equipment) and serve as a resource to development personnel across campus on these topics. Consult with the Office of the Vice President for Legal Affairs as needed to clarify rules and procedures. Seek ways to encourage employee giving from selected companies and thereby enhance corporate matching. Assist in the development of corporate impact reports and communication materials. Participate in planning solicitation strategies, tracking proposal processes and activity of the office, and maintaining various databases relating to CFR.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years experience in fundraising, public relations, or marketing with strong emphasis on sponsorship development and promotion. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience interacting with marketing or community affairs offices of companies, media, and other external communities. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively, work well under pressure, manage details of several concurrent projects, and meet deadlines. Ability to work effectively with administrators, faculty, and staff across the campus as well as with external constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications

More than three years experience in communications, development, or marketing. Experience working with corporate donors, knowledge of their processes and priorities, and proven track record in securing corporate gifts/sponsorships. Capital campaign experience in a university setting helpful. Experience using online research tools to identify prospective funders.
