This position will be created as a direct hire for Ari Kassan Fuentes but will be considered later as a permanent position.
Oversee, train, educate and mentor students in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), cyberinfrastructure, and web based information system design and development.
Will host and maintain the existing ARMAP by hosting for ARMAP 2D as it stands at the close of ARMAP 2010, upgrad existing server hardware to implement updated systems architecture. Conduct normal, ongoing, required system maintenance of web services and mapping applications. Conduct performance tuning to existing web services and mapping applications, as deemed important for speed and stability. Develop ARMAP 2011 version of the Arctic Research Mapping Application. Launch after determination of NSF needs and structured internal reveiw, a new Flex-based ARMAP 2D to replace the current Internet Map Server (IMS). Add data layers and other improvements to ARMAP 3D. Work with CPS ARMAP team to update the gateway website - armap.org.

Bachelor's degree. Critical thinking skills, including the ability to define, examine and analyze problems, and identify and formulate research questions, and collect data. Ability to apply research methods and conduct appropriate statistical analysis. Proficiency with microcomputer applications (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), statistical applications (SPSS), and multi-platform environments. Analysis and interpretation of scientific and technical publications. Presentation of information effectively to administrators and the public. Working effectively as a member of a research team. Strong communication skills (both written and oral). Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Masters degree in social or behavioral sciences, statistics or Computer Science.
